About forty neighbors braved the 100+ heat to share hot dogs and socialize today. The block party held from 4-6pm was still pretty hot for most folks but those daring ones came decked out in red, white and blue. Kids wheeled up on decorated bikes and golf carts. Jessie Mammel won the bike decorating contest while Susan Norton and Aaron Yarbough took home gift baskets for their winning ice creams. First place was vanilla made with vanilla beans, second place was praline, while third was black cherry. All very yummy.
Thanks to Doris Terry, Hazel Edwards, Helga Cavieries, Edna Hardin, Ted and Sue Looney, Aaron Yarbough, Colby and Susan Norton, Meloney Perry, Randy and Gloria Bartlet, and Jeannette Cardone who all helped in various capacities to make it all happen. You really make it a neighborhood to be proud of.
